It's when you apply light pressure to a stem usually main stem with two fingers to soften up the middle of the stem without breaking the outside layer of the stem. It creates a bend in the plant because the stem flops over in the new weak spot, allowing side branches to grow upwards to create an even canopy.
Also, how far into flowering are you? Can you post pictures? Are your lights fixed in an unmoveable spot or could you raise them to avoid them burning your plants any more? Like a book, scissors, TV controller, or something that wont crack the stem when weight applied, will just ever so slowly make growth to the side without stress I'm guessing.

I use both LST and super-cropping extensively. Here's why I would pick one over the other: LST is a lot less stress on the plants, so you can do this all the way through flower if your very slow and very gentle on stiff stems flowering stiffens stems and don't push too hard. Be careful, you may end up super-cropping on accident.
Super-cropping stops vertical height gain very effectively, and requires less follow up training, but it will put your girls in shock for a little while. Also, the cropped area reinforces stems nicely, allowing the growing tip to support a good sized bud. Either way, you're not going to benefit much by doing one or the other in flower.
