What is the difference between heredity and environment
The percentage of slow-twitch and fast-twitch muscle fibers found in skeletal muscle is determined genetically. As we all know, genes from our parents influence everything from height, weight, eye color, and other physical characteristics, to behavioral patterns in achievement, intelligence and motivation.
Any differences between identical twins is expected to be due to environmental factors since they are genetically identical, whereas fraternal twins only share half of their genes on average. When a genetic influence is dominant, the identical twins would have more trait similarity than fraternal twins.
We study twins to understand how much of the difference in a trait between people is caused by genes and how much is caused by the environment. These studies are important because they help scientists quantify genetic and modifiable environmental factors that increase the risk of certain diseases.
Limitations of twin studies Results from twin studies cannot be directly generalized to the general population, due to lack of randomization; in addition, they are different with regard to their developmental environment, as two fetuses growing simultaneously. However, fraternal twins, the type born of two separate fertilized eggs, are genetic. The same is not true for fraternal twins.
Fraternal twins can only happen if a mother releases two eggs in one cycle. The reason for this is that women of this age are more likely than younger women to release more than one egg during their reproductive cycle. According to conventional wisdom, twins not only run in families, but they also — for some strange reason — always skip at least one generation.
However, it is possible to increase chances of twins with IVF even with one embryo, where one egg can split to form two zygotes.
These are called monozygotic twins. Dizygotic twins, on the other hand, are a result of two separate eggs. This can happen when two or more embryos are transferred into your uterus. Their daughters would then have an increased chance of having DZ twins.
So if you are a female DZ twin and there are other DZ twins in your family, you may have an increased chance of having DZ twins. Starchy food, such as potatoes, and, ideally wholegrain, rice, pasta and bread. Foods rich in protein, such as lean, well-cooked meat, fish, eggs and pulses.
